Prior to buying this chair, I owned about 25 Office Max chairs that ranged in price from $39-$250. Each chair lasted about 1 year and if I look back on the money spent, it was a total waste. I thought a chair was a chair.
About two years ago, I was introduced to ergonomic chairs and proceeded to spend $1,500 on a relax the back chair that literally weighed 100 lbs. It had a ton of features, but eventually I got sick of the contoured seat. Also, my wife literally couldn't push the chair out of the way.
I decided to the sell the relax the back and buy an ergonomic chair that offered the most important features to me, which is the following:
2. Adjustable arms - ability to move out horizontally, move arm rests forward and backward and turn the arm rests. This was critical for positioning my mouse arm as I didn't like half my elbow hanging off the last chair's arm rest.
3. Adjustable in height - I am about 6 feet tall and my relax the back chair wouldn't adjust high enough so that my legs were parallel to the ground. It was uncomfortable and after a while, I felt like it put pressure n my hips.
4. Affordable - I don't think you need to spend $1,500 on an ergonomic chair to get everything you need. This isn't the flashest chair and if you like very soft cushiony chairs, this may not be the chair for you. It's comfortable, but like the aeron chair, it isn't a pillow top seat.
Overall, this chair is the best value I've seen and is certainly worth the price. I feel like this chair can last me 7-10 years.
